Rachael Smith-Vaughan’s career as a college and career counselor began at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, Nicaragua.
While growing the college counseling and career guidance department, she advised students from Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, Latin American, Canada, the USA, Eastern and Western Europe, and Africa.
As the College and Career Counselor for twelve years, these students were accepted into universities in Korea, Taiwan, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Colombia, Brasil, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Canada, and the US including the Ivy League schools.
To better understand the complete admissions process, Ms. Vaughan moved to the university side.
For the next three years, as the Senior Assistant Director – International Undergraduate Admissions for Bentley University, MA, a top tier business school, she traveled to China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Western and Eastern Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
Along with advising students and their families about Bentley, Ms. Vaughan presented USA university information and application workshops.
These seminars were for Education USA in various countries, schools, as well as scholarship students in the United Kingdom Fulbright office.
Missing the relationship with students and parents, Ms. Vaughan returned to the Secondary School side as the Director of College and Career Counseling for grades nine through twelve at the American Hebrew Academy.
This is the only International Jewish boarding school in the world.
The school is approximately 45% international coming from Eastern and Western Europe, Israel, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Indonesia and Australia.
The domestic students represent approximately 30 states. Students are admitted into universities in the US, Mexico, Brasil, Colombia, Israel, Germany, Canada, The UK, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium.
Ms. Vaughan has also authored numerous publications explaining the college search and application process in English, Spanish, and Korean.
